Hi - I'm Lia Zero.
(Pronounced: Lee-Ah Zeer-Oh)
I was assigned male at birth and lived as a male-identified person for 30ish years before realizing my correct gender was female - which is how I now identify (she/her).
The last article I wrote was an update on my recovery from gender confirmation surgery in 2021. (Check it out, and you'll know where I am in my transgender journey.)
This site has existed for many years but has been dormant since the abovementioned writing. The lack of new content corresponded with many changes in my life (both transgender-related and other).
Sometimes, once a transgender person has progressed far enough in their transition, they become comfortable with how they present themselves (from a gender expression point of view) and stop being as active in the community they depended on so much during their formative years of transition.
(I'm mainly speaking of the traditional male/female gender expressions. Being transgender isn't about being able to 'pass' as male or female - it's about presenting as the gender expression [or lack thereof] a person knows themselves to be. A person's gender is whatever they say it is. They are, after all, the only person who would know.)
Also, much to my embarrassment, this site was recently down for several months. The domain registry had lapsed, but I'm apparently the only person who wanted it, so a quick $12 later, and it's back!
Change was in the air, however, and I decided to shift the site's content to a different platform - and repost the material from the older version of the site.
This post is the first written on the new site. (I'm usually funnier, I promise.)
Oh! I also write a lot about woodworking and design!
